About Us

A Message from our Chief Executive Officer

We are proud to be the home of the Dallas Area Agency on Aging and many other supplemental initiatives and evidenced-based interventions designed to support seniors and their caregivers. We provide families with children accessibility to healthcare enrollment for CHIP and Children’s Medicaid, and also provide a number of highly successful youth development programs. We also assist individuals and families with both Medicare and ACA enrollment. Finally, we are the local provider of the 2-1-1 telephone Information and Referral system for consumers, and also publish the annual Source Book directory of Human Services agencies.

In fulfilling our mission, the award-winning Community Council will be known and defined as thoughtful collaborators within the nonprofit landscape of North Texas.  We’re going to continue to be a proactive—not reactive—organization. With the full backing of our esteemed Board of Directors and Advisory Committees, we will be accomplishing meaningful and powerful outcomes for the communities that we serve.

As you may know, our agency includes services that now extend to more than 50 counties across North Texas and neighboring communities.  Cordially, I welcome you to join us in partnership as Community Council continues the tradition of leadership, service, compassion, and cooperation.

Non-Profit Communities

The Community Council’s research and action plans resulted in the incubation and birth of new social services including:

01. History

Since its founding in 1940, the Community Council has identified services that are needed in the community, assessed how best services could be delivered to meet social issues, and mobilized and implemented action plans working in concert with its member agencies and public sector resources

02. Experience

Pervasive issues over time have included juvenile delinquency and welfare; seniors; public health; daycare; and legislative advocacy. The Community Council met these challenges through fact-based research, deploying volunteers, incubating new services and agencies, expanding government programs where appropriate, convening collaborative work and delivering selected direct services.
